My baby is four weeks old. Is this too young for portrait photography? It is never too soon to photograph your baby! Let Blunck's be the one to capture your baby's first portrait. (Just keep in mind that the little tyke may be sleeping!) Be sure to bring the blanket your grandmother made, or the rattle you had when you were born! We love the look of simple clothing choices such as white, pale blue or pink, for a softer feel. Don't forget to schedule additional sessions for three months, six months, nine months, and one year. These are all important developmental milestones for every child; the perfect beginning of your child's portrait history.
My toddler is cranky in the evenings. Do you have morning appointments available? Most toddlers and other young children will do better with an earlier appointment time. Another good time is after their nap. Be sure they have had breakfast or a snack. Remember, a happy child takes a better portrait.
What should we wear for our family portrait? We do acknowledge that the "rules" are made to be broken: if your dream portrait is by the poolside in Hawaiian shirts, we can help! But in general, the number one thing we suggest is: keep it simple. Bold patterns, stripes, plaids and prints usually will distract from your portrait. We suggest keeping jewelry to a minimum. Don't forget that manicure; your hands just may show in the portrait. We recommend you wear slightly more makeup for your session than you normally would. Men, don't forget to shave; that five o'clock shadow will show. Hair and makeup are important elements. Be sure you have yours the way you like it when you arrive.
How far in advance should I schedule my appointment? It is common for our evening and weekend times to fill up first. We are happy to give you the earliest available appointment that you request, but advance reservations whenever possible work best for your calendar as well as ours. Be sure to ask us to reserve extra time if your children are very young, if you wish to change clothes during your session, or if location photography interests you.
How soon after the session will we be able to view our images? In most cases, we are prepared to show you your images immediately following the session. We will also provide a printout of your images for you to take home.
Do I have to order my portraits on the same day of photography? Our beautiful images will baffle your mind! You are going to need a little time to decide, and we are prepared to give it. Feel free to order on the day of your session if you are ready. Otherwise, you may order over the phone, by mail, or by appointment on another day.
What if we want something a little different? Our experienced photographers love it when they hear that! We would love to discuss your ideas with you in advance of your session. You may schedule a time to drop by our studio, or call and tell us what you have in mind. By the time you arrive for your session, we will know exactly what you are looking for. Whether it's taken on a simple white background or in the back of your convertible, the options are endless! Still can't decide? Give us a call and we can help you get that mental picture! And one more thing: Don't forget Fido! Pets are welcome!
I need a business portrait in a hurry. Can you help? You can be sure we will try to help with yesterday's deadline! Call our office and we will do what we can to add you to our schedule immediately. Be sure to mention if you need a specific background or if you would like us to closely match portraits of your other associates. Need business cards? We can create a classy design just for you!
Can you do black and white portraits? Your session will be photographed in color, however any image can be printed in black and white or sepia tone (brownish antique tone.) We have other enhancements available and will show you as you view your images.
I wear glasses. Will the glare be a problem? Often our photographers are successful at reducing glasses glare, but it is true that some glasses reflect light more than others. To be on the safe side, some clients like to have their lenses removed by a professional. If not, we will do our best to minimize glare with our lighting. In some cases digital artwork is required to remove glare. Other common digital requests are: stray hair removal, scar removal, blemish removal, tan lines, and teeth whitening. Our artists can provide an estimate of any extra charges there may be for these services.
